The case of three men accused of a truck hijacking has been postponed to May for further investigations by the Gilead periodical court outside Polokwane in Limpopo.
Liquor outlet business owner, Mokgadi Maphepha, his accomplice Lesedi Khubayi and a truck driver, Robert Ledwaba, allegedly staged a truck hijacking that was carrying liquor worth over a million rand, near the Groblersbridge border post in October last year.
The truck was en route to Botswana.
Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng says the accused have been granted bail. “In October 2024, a truck transporting liquor to Botswana was allegedly hijacked near Groblersbridge port of entry. Two suspects reportedly lured the victims into the bushes, where the truck was robbed of liquor valued at R1.2 million.”
The driver and crew were reportedly paid cash for their involvement. Three suspects were arrested and released on bail of R2 000 each.
